수지는 존에게 이메일을 보내지 않을 것을 약속했다.

suji didn't promise to send an email to john.

수지는 존에게 이메일을 보내는 것을 약속하지 않았다.

 

TO 부정사

~하기 위해서

= in order to

= so as to

 

~하지 않기 위해서

= in order not to

= so as not to

 

to 부정사 > for + 명사 대체

you can spend money to help poor people 

= you can spend money for poor people

 

의미상 주어

for + 목적어

it was too important for us to forget

of + 목적어 : 사람의 성격

it is very kind of you to say so

 

too + 형용사, 부사 + to 부정사 ~하기엔 너무 - 한

= so + 형용사, 부사 + that + 주어 + can't

she was too busy to give it much thougt (목적어 뒤에 올 수 없음)

= she was so busy that she couldn't give it much thought (목적어 뒤에 올 수 있음)

 

형용사, 부사 + enough + to 부정사 ~ 할 정도로 충분히 -한

= so + 형용사, 부사 + that + 주어 + can

this room is large enough to have ten people in (목적어 뒤에 올 수 없음)

= this room is so large that it can have ten people in it(목적어 뒤에 올 수 있음 )

 

so that + 주어 + can ~ 하기 위해서

= in order to

= so as to

i study hard so that i can go to college

= i study hard in order to go to college

= i study hard so as to go to college

 

 

it takes 사람 + 시간 + to 부정사

= it takes 시간 + for 사람 + to 부정사

it takes me an hour to go to school by bus

= it takes an hour for me to go to school by bus

 

사역동사 make 는 to 부정사가 아닌 동사원형을 사용한다.

ready + to 부정사 : ~할 준비가 된
